Today marks a new and inspirational day in American democracy and I am renewed with hope of a brighter future. The significance and trajectory of this historic moment will bring healing and good health to the soul of our great nation.
As I reflect on a life of firsts, I remember watching President Clinton being inaugurated with my mother; the strength from which I was born and will continue to honor. I’m also reminded of all of the interns, students, and community members who celebrated a series of firsts with the election of Barack Obama as our first African American president and the wonder and hope we all shared in that moment.
Let today be a reminder that democracy lives on and our country is as resilient as her people. May God bless you and our United States of America!
