As PRIDE Month comes to a close, it brings me great joy and hope to see an overwhelming display of support and celebration of the LGBTQ+ Community in Fresno from our academic institutions, city government, and community organizations.
Although we have made much progress – that progress is always in jeopardy. We must never take the progress we’ve made for granted as it can be stripped away with a change in government, legislated away after an election cycle, or decided by a majority vote of the Supreme Court.
It is for these reasons and many more that I will continue my work with a renewed commitment to always stand up for what is right, provide a voice for the voiceless and marginalized, and dedicate myself to policy centric advocacy, programs, and initiatives that further diversity, equity, and inclusion so all students Fresno County feel seen, heard, welcomed, and acknowledged
