As the month of April 2023 comes to an end, the Fresno County Board of Education recognized Earth Day 
for the second year, passing a resolution I sponsored to encourage school districts throughout Fresno County to promote environmental stewardship and preserve the environmental health of our local communities and planet.
It is important we recognize the critical role our school districts play in educating our students about the value of protecting the environment, advance a deeper understanding of the consequences of climate change, while inspiring students to be climate storytellers to emphasize the impacts of of climate change, particularly to disproportionate and under resourced communities.
I will continue to work with the County superintendent and my fellow colleagues on the Board of Education to further narratives that are grounded in science in order to drive systemic, environmental change, while promoting a collective vision for what a better tomorrow might look like when we prepare and equip students to be good stewards of our finite, natural resources
